In1983 the government of Egypt adopted a project named as THE NATIONAL BUFFALO SCHEME , it started with 15000 head , the project continue until 1991 ended with 275000 head . The target of project was to encourage the farmers to fatten their calves to reach the weight of 400 - 450 kgs. This project was completely subsidized by the government and it was one of the most animal products successful governmental project through the 80th. |

When the economical reform started in 1990, and privatization policy took place the government stopped subsidizing this project. |

Through the period in which the project worked it attracted many private sector projects to work in the fattening of buffalo field and farms of feed lot (1000) heads appeared. |

Some breeders work to-gether and with help of Dr. Hussien Soliman the regional manager of U.S. GRAINS COUNCIL contribute to find another way to finance new project suitable for the new economical changes . They succeeded to establish THE EGYPTIAN BUFFALO PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION in December 1992. In the first meeting of this Association the members elect Dr. Saad Al Hayani to be the chairman . |

The association under complete supervision and direction of H.E Dr. Yousif Wali succeeded to get a loan from U.S. Aid through PL-480 Prog. Section 416 amounting 30 million L.E as a soft loan and it were exceeded after the first successful season to 50 million L.E. This amount was deposited in CIB Cairo as the managing bank of the fund (revolving fund) This project called The Buffalo Fattening Project |
